Peter Fredriksson leaves his position as director of engineering at Trimble Navigation, to become MD of Optronic. Fredriksson starts in August, and will lead Optronic in its quest to establish itself on the European market, where the demand for optical sensors is growing. "Peter's experience in development and international sales, as well as his knowledge of the demands on a supplier of optical sensors, will be great assets in his new role", says Rickard Åström, Optronic board member and partner.

Optronic has long been one of Sweden's leading suppliers in the development and manufacturing of optoelectronic solutions for industry. Today, its customers are primarily based in the Nordic region, but also throughout Europe. In the spring of 2013, the company opened a sales office in Munich, Germany. "I'm joining a company which is in a very exciting phase", says Fredriksson, and continues: "I have, during my time at Trimble, been a customer of Optronic and gotten to know them as a professional and competent partner in both development and production. I look forward to contributing with my own experience, thus helping Optronic to move forward in the process of establishing itself in Europe."

For 17 years, Fredriksson held leading positions at multinational company Trimble. Among other roles, he has worked as site manager for Trimble's optical units in Sweden and Germany, as well as development manager, responsible for products designed for land surveying and construction. "I have had a very good and fulfilling time at Trimble. The opportunity to work on projects at the very forefront of development has been extremely stimulating."

In recent years, some of his work has involved business development within the agreement framework between Trimble and equipment manufacturer Caterpillar. This has included developing sales and distribution channels to markets in Europe as well as in the Middle East and Africa.

At Optronic, Fredriksson replaces Joacim Lindström, who will continue as deputy managing director with special focus on production and logistics. "Quality and delivery precision is central to all our partners and through this recruitment, we can increase our focus on that, as well as on development and sales", Åström explains.

Since 2010, Optronic has increased sales and improved profit margins. Lindström, managing director during this time, looks back on two years that have seen Optronic secure a good position for the future: "We handled the financial crisis and the downturn in the global economy by never compromising on quality and delivery precision. This is something that I am proud to have been a part of, and I look forward to continuing our quest to reach more and more customers."
